Understanding Individual vs. Comparative Reports

Use this to familiarize yourself with the types or reports available in the ISLG Reports feature, and how you can use them to gain insight and identify patterns and trends in data.

This article contains the following topics:

About Report Types

Individual and comparative reports are available for each report category in the application. Understanding when to use these report types will enable you to use the report feature to its best advantage in your research.

Use an Individual Report when you are interested in analyzing data related to a single dispute, person, organization or country. This collects all data available for a particular record based on the parameters of the report.

Once you have identified a record you want to know more about, Individual reports are most useful for:

  • Comprehensive research into a specific entity
  • Understanding a single entity’s relationship with other data available in the application
  • Discovering patterns or trends related to a particular entity

Use a Comparative report to compare multiple records of the same type against each other. This report type is best for identifying patterns and trends across a broader data set.

Comparative reports are most useful for:

  • Conducting broad research around a topic
  • Identifying commonalities across multiple records
  • Discovering connections between otherwise disparate records
