Receiving and Managing Notifications

Use this guide to understand how to best stay up to date with subjects, cases and analyses relevant to your research.

Notifications Overview

Subscribing to notifications from ISLG allows you to stay up to date with the latest content and analysis added to the application. 

As an ISLG subscriber you can choose to receive notifications for:

  • New content added to ISLG:

Receive an email notification whenever a new dispute, dispute document or legal instrument is added to the tool.

  • New content added to one to one of your followed topics:
    Receive automatic notifications when your bookmarked disputes, subjects, or legal instruments are updated with new information.
  • Shared research topics from your colleagues:
    Be notified directly in your inbox when a colleague has shared research with you.

Following Topics

From within the ISLG application, you can simply and effectively follow topics of interest by selecting the ‘Follow topic’ option on the branch of interest within the research tools.

Following a topic allows you to receive notifications if new content or analysis related to the followed topic is added to the application. This option is available throughout the research tools for following:

  • Disputes
  • Dispute documents, including specific paragraphs or passages that have been cited
  • Legal instruments, including specific provisions that have been cited
  • Subjects within the Subject Navigator
  • Terms/phrases within the Terms & Phrases tool
  • Publications, including specific portions that have been cited

Alert Types

The ISLG application offers two types of notifications:

  1. In app alerts:
    You are alerted to new notifications via the bell icon within the header of the application. Your notification will be listed in this menu and accessible via the ‘My Followed Topics’ link in the ‘My Account’ menu
  2. Email notifications:
    You can choose to subscribe to email notifications and also receive alerts directly to your inbox. 

Notification Settings

Global notification settings can be managed via your ‘Account Preferences’ in the ‘My Account’ menu.

 

Within the Communications tab you can opt in or out of email notifications for:

  • New Content Added to ISLG
  • New Content Added to one to one of your followed topics
  • Shared research topics from your colleagues.Communication Preferences

Email notifications for followed topics can also be controlled more granularly from within ‘My Followed Topics’, allowing you to set your notification preference per topic.

Following a dispute or dispute document

You can simply and effectively stay up to date with how specific decisions have been treated by subsequent investment treaty tribunals, by following the document of interest within the Dispute Document Library.

Following a legal instrument

You can simply and effectively stay up to date with newly published, relevant analysis related to a legal instrument of interest by following the instrument within the Article Citator tool. Following a legal instrument, or a particular provision within that instrument, will allow you to receive in-app notifications and email notifications when investment treaty decisions and awards have referred to the instrument or provision in question.

Following a subject

You can simply and effectively stay up to date with newly published, relevant analysis related to a topic of interest, by following a subject within the Subject Navigator tool. Following a subject will allow you to receive in-app notifications and email notifications when investment treaty decisions and awards have referred to the subject in question.

 

Following a publication

You can simply and effectively stay up to date with newly published, relevant analysis related to a publication of interest, by following the publication within the Publications Citator tool. Following a publication will allow you to receive in-app notifications and opt-in to email notifications for when investment treaty decisions and awards have referred to a publication.
